Does anyone know when Claude Pro usage resets after you hit the limit?

I had a long conversation yesterday evening and hit my usage limit, then a few hours later got a message to try again. But I'm not sure exactly how many hours need to pass before it resets. I think I've seen something about it resetting every 5 hours, but I'm not certain. Is it reset monthly based on your billing date, or does it just roll over on an hourly basis? Does anyone know for sure?

Hi, this is the admin team. To get straight to the point, yes, it resets every 5 hours, and it's not a monthly reset based on your billing date—it's a session-based system that continues cycling. According to Claude's official support center (support.claude.com), session-based usage limits apply across all pricing tiers, including Free and Pro, and these limits reset every 5 hours. You can check the exact reset time in the notice displayed in your chat window or in Settings > Usage where you'll see when the next reset occurs. So if you hit the limit last night, you'd have to wait 5 hours from that point before you can use it again. One thing to keep in mind: this 5-hour limit is a separate mechanism from your monthly billing cycle. The reset time changes each time depending on when you actually hit the usage limit, regardless of when you're billed. Also, as conversations get longer, the same chat window consumes more computational resources by repeatedly pulling previous context. Here are three ways to use less of your limit: 1. Start a new conversation when changing topics. 2. Upload materials you'll reference repeatedly to your Projects, then pull them up in a new conversation. We've written out the details in the guide below. https://usingclaude.com/ko/pricing/plans/claude-usage-limits-guide
