Claude web chat interface design—does everyone see different versions?

Hi, this is from the admin team. To cut to the chase, the fact that different people see different screens isn't a mistake or an illusion—it's actually a normal thing that can happen. Anthropic doesn't roll out new UIs or features to all users at once. Instead, they often use a gradual rollout approach where they test with some accounts first and see how people react. This has actually happened multiple times—reports have confirmed that things like the Claude desktop app sidebar layout or certain Claude Code features were tested silently with only some users before a wider rollout. In cases like this, even if you have the same account tier (Pro, Max, etc.), some people might see the new design while others still see the old one. That said, I can't say for certain whether the chat input area changes or sidebar icon color shifts you're seeing are exactly that kind of test, or when they started rolling out or what percentage of users got them. Anthropic doesn't usually announce these gradual tests publicly. They typically happen quietly, and once everything's stable, they roll out to all users. Here are a couple of other things worth checking too: 1. The difference might be due to browser or app cache or version differences, so try clearing your cache and refreshing. 2. Also check whether it might just be a difference in your personal display settings—like dark mode vs. light mode. If it's not a bug or error, you don't need to do anything about it. Most of the time things like this get standardized across all users eventually.
