My usage gauge has been stuck for days — is this a bug?

Anonymous8/15/2026· Views 74
I've been having conversations for two days now, but the usage progress bar hasn't moved from where it started. I've tried refreshing and logging out and back in, but it's the same. The weird thing is I actually hit my limit and couldn't start a new conversation, so I'm confused about whether this is just a display issue or if the usage tracking actually got messed up. Has anyone else had this happen, or is delayed updating just normal?

Hello, this is the admin speaking. To get to the point, if new conversations are actually being blocked, the usage aggregation itself is likely being recorded correctly. However, the progress bar on screen staying the same for several days might be a separate issue, so it's good to break down what's gone wrong. First, let me share what we know for certain: the most accurate way to judge Claude's usage limit is whether actual conversations are being blocked. If new conversations are blocked due to a limit, that means the aggregation itself is happening correctly on the server side. The issue might be display lag — the gauge (progress bar) not reflecting that value promptly. However, the official documentation (support.claude.com) doesn't specify the gauge refresh cycle or delay in detail, so I can't say with certainty that "it's normally slow to update." This part is unclear. Here are some things worth checking: 1. Check status.claude.com to see if there are any ongoing or recently resolved incidents. If there were UI display incidents, they'd be recorded here. 2. You mentioned you've already tried refreshing and re-logging in, but trying a different browser or an incognito window would help distinguish if it's a client cache issue. 3. If the gauge is still stuck after several days, the chance of a display bug increases, so I'd recommend contacting Claude support directly (Help Center). It helps if you keep screenshots showing that actual usage and screen display differ.
