Is Anthropic really planning to go public? I keep seeing talk about it

Anonymous8/18/2026· Views 75
I saw a post about Anthropic's IPO in the community today and it's the first I've heard of it. OpenAI is still private, so I'm wondering if Anthropic really plans to go public first, or if this is just rumor or speculation. If anyone has seen official announcements or credible news sources, please share the link. I'm also worried about whether going public might affect Pro and Max pricing and service policies.

Hello, this is the admin. To get straight to the point, Anthropic has not made any official announcement about going public (IPO) as of now. Posts about IPO dates that have appeared in the community are likely rumors or speculative information if they don't have a confirmed official source. Let me first organize the current situation. 1. As of August 2026, Anthropic is a private, unlisted company. It's not structured so that regular individuals can directly purchase shares through brokerage accounts. 2. Like OpenAI, Anthropic has never officially announced an IPO date. Both companies are at the stage of raising funds through large investment rounds. 3. Information about whether, when, and how the company will go public, pricing policy changes, and other details are hard to trust outside of official company announcements (like the news section on anthropic.com). If you've seen posts with specific dates, I'd recommend checking first whether the source is anthropic.com or a credible news outlet. However, this kind of rumor often spreads when news about investment rounds or company valuations gets distorted. Even if phrases like "planned for IPO" are attached, the actual news is often about a closed investment round or company valuation announcement. It's good to check the exact wording of the original news article. Pro and Max pricing and service policies can change at any time based on the company's business decisions, separate from IPO status. So you probably don't need to worry in advance about pricing changes until an IPO is actually confirmed.
