Hi there, this is the site staff. To answer up front, you can use Cowork on Windows too. However, it's not available on the free plan. You need a paid plan (Pro, Max, Team, or Enterprise). This is based on what the official help center (support.claude.com) says. 1. Cowork is available in the Claude desktop app on macOS and Windows. Linux is listed as beta. 2. On Windows, you need the latest version of the app, and the Virtual Machine Platform feature must be turned on. 3. The app has to be installed with administrator privileges for Cowork to work. The guidance says that if you install it without admin rights, you can still use the app, but desktop Cowork won't work. 4. I couldn't find any guidance saying the free plan is eligible for Cowork. If you're having trouble installing it, items 2 and 3 above seem to be the most common causes. Update the app to the latest version, check that Virtual Machine Platform is turned on in Windows Features, and then reinstall with administrator privileges. If it's a work PC, IT policy may be blocking it. The reason the posts say different things seems to be that the structure changed recently. From what we've gathered, starting September 16, 2026, Cowork is being integrated into all conversations, and the old chat/collaboration selection menu is disappearing. It's rolling out in order, starting with Pro and Max. So instead of looking for a separate Cowork menu, you may now request file and folder work by starting a normal conversation in the desktop app. However, the screen layout may differ depending on your account and the timing, so I'm not sure of the exact location. We've put together a detailed guide on how to use it after the integration. https://usingclaude.com/ko/guides/features/claude-cowork-guide
