I installed Claude Cowork but it doesn't respond when I run it

Anonymous10/6/2026· Views 23
I installed Claude Cowork to use the Cowork tab in the Claude desktop app, but when I turn it on, it just keeps loading and then stops. I even reinstalled the app but it's the same. Is there a case where you can't use Cowork depending on your plan? Or I'm wondering if there's a setting I need to enable separately besides installation. If anyone else has experienced this symptom, please let me know how you fixed it.

Hello, this is the admin team. To answer up front, some plans do not include Cowork. However, if you are on a paid plan and the screen just keeps loading, the cause is more likely an environment issue than your plan. We can’t pin down the exact cause from this post alone. First, plans. According to the official help center, Cowork is available on paid plans such as Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise, and the Free plan is not eligible. The official guidance does not mention any separate setting you need to turn on. If you install the desktop app and sign in with a paid plan, you should be able to use it. Also, Cowork has recently been rolling out as part of Claude, account by account, so the screen layout may differ from the guidance. If loading never finishes, we recommend checking the following in order. 1. Fully quit the app and then launch it again. According to the official help center, Cowork downloads a workspace environment to use. If the download fails, it tries again when the app restarts. 2. If you are on a company or school network, check whether a proxy, web filter, or security program is blocking the download. If the same error keeps appearing, this is usually the cause, according to the guidance. 3. On Windows, check that the app is up to date and that Virtual Machine Platform is turned on, since Cowork runs tasks inside a virtual environment. The minimum OS version is listed differently in different documents, so we recommend checking the official page directly. 4. It could also be a service outage, so check the official status page as well. If the problem persists, please leave a comment with your OS, app version, plan, and the exact message on screen. That will help narrow down the cause. If it still doesn’t work, contacting the app’s support channel is the most reliable option.
