What's the difference between Claude Pro and Max? How do I choose?

Anonymous7/2/2026· Views 123
I've been using Claude for free but the limits are frustrating, so I'm thinking about paying for a plan. There's Pro and Max, but I can't tell the difference just from the names. I want to know if the price difference is worth the actual difference in functionality, and when someone should upgrade all the way to Max.

Hello, this is the admin here. The fundamental difference is usage volume. - Pro: Way more usage than free + paid features (projects, more model choices, etc.). Most work and learning needs are covered by Pro. - Max: 5× or 20× the Pro usage ceiling. Often includes early access to new features. Here's how to pick: 1. Using Claude under 2 hours a day? → Pro 2. On Pro but hitting limits 3+ times a week, or running long Claude Code sessions? → Max is for you. Claude Code is especially heavy on usage, so power users really feel the difference. Zero waste that way.
