Has anyone switched from ChatGPT to Claude? How is it actually?

Anonymous7/4/2026· Views 128
I have a ChatGPT paid subscription, but I want to try Claude too. People around me say Claude is better at writing, but I want to hear from someone who's actually used both. Specifically, I'm wondering if there's a noticeable difference for long-form writing and document editing tasks, or if they're pretty much on the same level. I'd appreciate honest feedback from someone who's tried both.

Hello! I'm an admin here. To cut to the chase, if your main use is writing and organizing long documents, there's definitely a good case for switching to Claude. That said, ChatGPT has its own areas where it's strong, so it's not really a matter of one being objectively better — it depends on what you're doing. Here are the areas where Claude really shows a noticeable difference: 1. Handling long documents. Multiple comparison articles consistently point out that Claude is better at maintaining a large context window while analyzing documents and writing logically coherent text. It's especially good for things like pulling key points from a massive report, contract, or paper, or reviewing hundred-page documents. 2. Writing quality. People often say Claude's responses feel more human and natural. Users report that when you're going through the cycle of drafting and revising, Claude consistently delivers the quality you're looking for. A lot of people say Claude is better at keeping sentence context intact too. 3. Hallucinations (factual errors). Anthropic focuses on AI safety research, and Claude is designed to say when it doesn't know something and to minimize making up false information as if it were fact. This is mentioned as a key philosophical difference from ChatGPT. That said, ChatGPT definitely still leads in some areas: 1. Image generation. Claude can't generate images. If you need images, you'll need to use ChatGPT (DALL·E). 2. Ecosystem breadth. ChatGPT has the widest plugin and integration ecosystem, and it's ahead when it comes to voice conversations and multimedia. Actually, a lot of heavy AI users run both. They split it up — Claude for writing and document analysis, ChatGPT for image generation and voice conversations. If you're thinking about going paid, Claude Pro and ChatGPT Plus are both around $20/month anyway. If your main goal is writing or organizing long documents, I'd recommend switching to Claude or using both. I put together a more detailed comparison of the two services here: https://usingclaude.com/ko/guides/models/claude-vs-chatgpt
