Which models can I use on the free plan?

I just signed up for Claude and saw there are multiple model options. I'm not sure exactly which models are available on the free plan. Can I use Sonnet or Opus for free, or is it limited to certain models? The official page doesn't seem super clear about this, so I figured it'd be better to ask people who are actually using it. Thanks!

Hi, this is the admin team. To sum up: on the free plan, you can use Sonnet and Haiku models, but Opus is not available. Here's what we've confirmed so far. 1. Models available on the free plan: The latest version of Sonnet is offered as the default model, and Haiku is also included as an option. Currently, Anthropic officially provides Sonnet 5 as the default model for the free plan. 2. Models not available on the free plan: Opus models are not provided on the free plan. Since Opus is the most powerful model, it's only accessible with Pro or higher plans. 3. Why you see multiple model choices: When you open the model picker on claude.ai, Sonnet and Haiku appear, which is normal. However, even if you see an Opus option while free, if you try to use it, you'll get an upgrade prompt. One more thing to keep in mind: the usage limit on the free plan is not a fixed message count, but rather operates dynamically based on computation.
