Can you pay for Claude with a Korean credit card?

Anonymous7/4/2026· Views 157
I tried to sign up for Pro, but my payment keeps failing even though I have an international card. I'm wondering if there are certain card types or companies that don't work. Or is there another reason payment might get blocked? If anyone's successfully subscribed, could you share which card you used? Thanks!

Hi, this is the admin team. To sum up: Korean cards aren't automatically blocked just because they're Korean, but if certain conditions aren't met, payment can be declined. There are several things to check. Let me walk you through the four most common causes, in order. 1. Billing address mismatch: As noted in Anthropic's official documentation, the English address registered with your card issuer and what you enter at checkout must match exactly—down to every comma, uppercase/lowercase letter, and postal code digit. Even tiny differences can cause a decline. 2. 3DS verification collision: Claude payments go through Stripe. Domestic Korean card issuers' authentication methods (SafeClick, ISP) can clash with Stripe's 3DS structure, causing popups to disconnect or verification to hang. Check whether the auth screen loads properly. 3. International transaction settings: Even if your card allows overseas payments, if you have 'International online transaction' or 'DCC (Dynamic Currency Conversion) blocking' enabled in your card issuer's app, dollar charges may get blocked. Check this setting in your card issuer's app before paying. 4. Card BIN and card issuer policy: Stripe analyzes the first 6 digits of your card number (BIN) and sometimes auto-declines cards it categorizes as high-risk subscription services. No official numbers are published about which card issuer definitely works or doesn't. However, the community reports that multi-currency prepaid cards (like Travelogue, TravelWallet) have higher approval rates than regular debit cards. One more thing to watch out for: if you click the payment button repeatedly with the same card, your card issuer or Stripe may temporarily block that card. After a failure, it's best to wait at least several hours before retrying. If web payment keeps failing, you can also try in-app payment through the Claude mobile app (iOS/Android). In that case, payment goes through Apple App Store or Google Play systems, so it's processed separately from the Stripe web payment. If it still doesn't work, you can reach out directly at support.anthropic.com and they'll tell you the specific reason for the decline.
