Can I use a debit card to register for Claude payment?

Hello, this is the admin. To put it up front, debit cards are officially supported. However, there are a few common reasons payments get blocked, so I recommend checking each of these items. Anthropic's official support documentation explicitly states that 'only credit or debit cards are permitted as payment methods for Pro and Max plans.' That is, debit cards themselves are not unsupported. The causes of payment not going through are usually one of these three: 1. International payments not enabled: Claude payments are processed as overseas merchant transactions based in the US. First, check in your card issuer's app or customer service that 'overseas payments (including online)' are allowed. They're often blocked by default. 2. Billing address mismatch: The billing address you enter on Anthropic's payment page must exactly match the address registered with your card company. If the format differs even slightly when entering a Korean address in English, it may be rejected. It's safer to copy the English address registered with your card company and enter it as-is. 3. 3D Secure (identity verification) not supported: Anthropic requires 3D Secure authentication (one-time code verification) during payment. Some debit cards don't support this authentication and may be automatically rejected. Contact your card issuer to inquire about 'overseas online payment and 3DS authentication support.' If you've checked all three of the above and it still doesn't work, I recommend trying a different debit or credit card from the same Visa or Mastercard brand. Note that third-party payments like PayPal are not supported.
