Before you start

  • A Free, Pro, or Max plan — Team and Enterprise plans don't support this feature yet.
  • Claude on the web (claude.ai) or the Claude Desktop app — the Recap page isn't available on the mobile app yet.
  • Memory turned on in Settings — this is the feature that lets Claude remember context from your past conversations and use it in later ones. If memory is off, the Recap page won't appear.

Quick term glossary

  • Recap — a summary of how you've used Claude over a chosen period
  • Reflect — the settings page where you view your recap
  • Memory — the feature that lets Claude remember context from past conversations and use it in future ones
  • Incognito chat — a private conversation mode that isn't saved to your history
  • Connected services — outside apps like Gmail or Google Drive that Claude can pull content from
  • AI fluency — a framework for looking at how you use AI, built around four skills: Delegation, Description, Discernment, and Diligence
  • Claude Cowork / Claude Code — separate collaboration and coding products; activity there is excluded from your recap

Step by step

  1. Open Claude on the web (claude.ai) or in the Desktop app.
  2. Go to Settings > Reflect. Success looks like this: your recap for the past month loads automatically.
  3. Click the "Past month" dropdown at the top to change the range — choose this month so far, past 3 months, past 6 months, or past year.
  4. Click the refresh icon next to the dropdown to regenerate the recap for whichever range you currently have selected.

Note: this feature is rolling out gradually as a beta. If you meet all the requirements above but still don't see Reflect, it may not have reached your account yet — check back later.

What your recap shows

Opening summary

A short headline and paragraph describing your month with Claude. Instead of generic praise, it names the actual work and themes drawn from your real conversations.

Your time with Claude

Three headline stats come first: your most active day, your peak hour, and your total conversations. Below them, a daily activity chart shows how your conversations were spread across the period. Under the chart, click "Set quiet hours and breaks" to open your Time and focus settings, where you can manage break reminders and quiet hours.

What you spent time on

A proportional breakdown of the themes and topics you brought to Claude over the period, each shown with a short description and a percentage.

Expanding your skills

Delegation What to hand off, what to keep Description The context you give Claude Discernment Weighing what comes back Diligence How you represent AI use in your work

Drawing on your own conversations, this section shows observation cards for four AI fluency skills: Delegation, Description, Discernment, and Diligence. Each card pairs an observation with a concrete next step, like creating a Skill or a Project. Click "Learn about AI fluency" on the page to read more about the framework.

What's included and what's left out

  • Your recap is built from your recent chats, and it relies on the same history that powers memory — so if memory is off, the recap is hidden too.
  • There's no Recap page on mobile yet, but your activity on Claude Mobile is still counted toward your recap.
  • When Claude pulls content from a connected service like Gmail or Google Drive, the raw email or file itself isn't included. Anything Claude wrote in the chat about it can still show up — for example, if you ask Claude to summarize your inbox, the emails aren't pulled in, but the summary Claude wrote is.
  • Some conversations are skipped entirely: incognito chats, conversations that use a health integration such as Apple Health or Health Connect, and activity in Claude Cowork and Claude Code.
  • Sensitive or distress-related topics never lead your recap and are never itemized with counts or percentages. Support resources appear alongside your recap where appropriate.

Common snags & fixes

  • I don't see Reflect in Settings → Likely cause: memory is off under Settings > Capabilities, you're on a Team or Enterprise plan instead of Free/Pro/Max, or you're on Claude Mobile. Fix: turn memory on and switch to web or desktop; if it's still missing, it may just not have rolled out to your account yet, so check back later.
  • A stat or summary in my recap looks wrong → Likely cause: the recap's summary and topic breakdown are generated from your chat history, so occasional inaccuracies in the proportions or narrative can happen. Fix: use the thumbs feedback on the page to flag it.
  • Will opening my recap use up my usage limits? → Viewing your recap itself doesn't count toward your usage limits. If you start a conversation from a suggestion on the page, though, that conversation counts toward usage like any other chat.

Next steps

To turn the recap off, go to Settings > Capabilities and turn off "Generate memory from chat history." There's no dedicated toggle just for the recap, so switching memory off disables both. Keep in mind that even with memory on, Claude only generates a recap once you actually visit Settings > Reflect — landing on that page is what triggers it. If you use more than one Claude account, note that each account's recap only covers that account. For the full original details, see the Claude Help Center.
